Job Description – Associate, Labour & Employment 

 

Due to ongoing growth, this firm seeks to add a Labour & Employment lawyer to its team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will act in labour & employment cases for a broad range of employers in the public and private sectors, providing legal services to governments, public agencies, major health care providers and educational institutions. You will also represent a wide range of private sector employers including industrial, resource, manufacturing, agri-business, transportation, communications, and retail undertakings. 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

 

  • Assist clients in a wide range of labour and employment issues, including wrongful dismissal, OH&S, employment standards, human rights, and labour relations.   
  • Advise on disciplinary matters, terminations, drafting and implementing employment contracts and workplace policies, and collective agreement interpretation.   

 

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge 

  • LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent). 
  • Good standing with a Canadian Law Society. 
  • 3+ years of post-call experience in labour & employment law. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Proactive and client-centered approach.
