Job Description – Associate, Corporate Commercial

 

Due to ongoing growth, our client is seeking to add a Corporate Commercial Lawyer to their team in Calgary. The successful candidate will assist public and private companies across a broad range of complex corporate matters at all stages of the business growth cycle in respect to financings, strategic corporate transactions, and general corporate matters. Strong commercial understanding and excellent drafting and negotiation skills are essential. 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Manage a varied corporate commercial practice, including public and private M&A, corporate finance, securities and/or corporate governance matters.  
  • Provide support to senior counsel and ensure deadlines are met.   
  • Participate in and support business development activities, including client relationship management.  

 

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge 

  • LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent). 
  • Good standing with a Canadian Law Society. 
  • 1-4 years of corporate commercial law experience gained at a top-tier firm. 
  • Strong commercial understanding, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills. 
  • Team player with a relationship-forward approach.
